Gameplay

Metro Exodus combines shootouts with stealth, exploration and crafting equipment. Artyom can get around enemies instead of settling every conflict openly. Weapons and attachments can be adjusted on the go.

In dangerous areas, ammunition, gas mask filters and other supplies are limited. If you search off the beaten path for materials, you can upgrade equipment and weapons. Different times of day and weather conditions affect the journey through the destroyed landscape.

With the Aurora across Russia

The Aurora train connects the locations of Metro Exodus. Artyom travels with the Spartans from the area around Moscow to new regions. Along the way, the seasons and surroundings change.

The route passes through the Volga region, the dry Caspian region and the forested taiga, among other areas. The larger areas leave more room for optional exploration, while other chapters offer tighter, more guided sections.

The fate of the companions

How Artyom handles his encounters affects the course of the story and his travel companions. Not every armed enemy has to be killed. Stealthy solutions and how you deal with other survivors can have consequences.

The story follows one connected journey, although some areas outside the main missions can be explored freely.

Game series

Metro Exodus continues Artyom's story after Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. The game world is based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro novels. The earlier games mostly take place in the tunnels of Moscow, while Exodus expands Artyom's journey to the surface.

Knowledge of the earlier games helps you place the characters and their relationships. The new journey nevertheless has its own story.
