Immortals Fenyx Rising: A New God

A New God is the first story expansion for Immortals Fenyx Rising. After the main adventure, Fenyx travels to the Palace of Olympus and faces the trials of the Greek gods.

The focus is on self-contained vaults with movement puzzles, obstacles and combat. Four new upgrades for Fenyx's powers open up more ways to solve challenges.

Released on Jan 28, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The Steam version followed on Dec 15, 2022. Before that, the expansion was already available on PC through other stores.

A New God has been released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The expansion requires the matching main game Immortals Fenyx Rising. The Steam version of the add-on also requires the Steam version of the main game.

On PlayStation and Xbox, versions exist for each console generation.

The gods' trials combine skill and puzzles. Fenyx must operate devices, glide over chasms and defeat enemies in dedicated combat arenas. The challenges recall the Tartarus vaults of the main game but also require new abilities.

The expansion therefore focuses more on tackling individual trial rooms than on free exploration of a large island.

A New God is available as a standalone add-on or in the Season Pass. The Season Pass also includes Myths of the Eastern Realm and The Lost Gods.

The three adventures expand the main game in different ways: A New God focuses on the trials of Olympus, the second DLC moves to a world based on Chinese myths, and the third introduces Ash as a new playable character.

For the PC version, Steam lists at least 8 GB RAM, an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-6300, and a GeForce GTX 660 with 2 GB or Radeon R9 280X with 3 GB. Steam lists 33 GB of free storage space.

Recommended are an Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350 and a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290. A Ubisoft account is required on PC.

The Palace of Olympus is the new setting. After the events on the Golden Island, Fenyx arrives in the home of the Greek gods. From there, paths lead to a series of trial vaults.

The story is about whether Fenyx deserves a place in the pantheon. The gods' challenges serve as the test for this decision.

Four gods set Fenyx their own trial series. Ares, Aphrodite, Athena and Hephaestus demand skill in combat and puzzle solving. As the trials progress, each one grants a new upgrade to the divine powers.

Later vaults build on these abilities. The combination of movement, physics and divine power determines the way to the goal.

Four upgrades expand Fenyx's abilities. Barrier Breaker boosts Athena's Thrust and breaks through special obstacles. Strength of the Colossus allows lifting particularly large objects.

Wind Gust creates an updraft with Wrath of Ares. Phosphor Swap exchanges Fenyx's position with a created decoy. This also opens new paths in the trial vaults.

Fenyx gains new weapons and armor pieces. Some gear effects reduce damage from enemies or traps, while others allow extra jumps in the air.

Beyond the direct trial paths are optional puzzles with relics from other gods. If you want to discover everything, you also need to explore these side paths.

A New God can also be started without completing the main campaign. Fenyx starts the trials with suitable abilities, so previous add-ons are not required.

The story, however, takes place after the end of the main adventure and spoils some of its twists. If you want to experience the full story, you should finish the main game first.

The trial rooms introduce additional puzzle mechanics. Correctly arranged metal blocks can be used to create electrical connections. Portals can transport objects to other locations, but Fenyx cannot pass through them.

The challenges combine these rules with jumps, platforms and divine powers.

On PC, A New God supports German voice and on-screen text. On Steam, you can also choose English, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese, among others. Language options depend on the platform version.
