LEGO DC Super-Villains

LEGO DC Super-Villains is an action-adventure in which you create your own supervillain and, together with well-known DC characters, take on supposed heroes. The campaign combines a story about the missing Justice League with explorable locations, combat, puzzles and collectible tasks.

LEGO DC Super-Villains released for PC on Oct 16, 2018. In Germany, the PS4 version followed on Oct 17, and the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions on Oct 18, 2018. The differences concern the release dates of the individual platforms.

LEGO DC Super-Villains was released natively for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. On Xbox Series X|S you can play the Xbox One version, and on PS5 the PS4 version. This backward compatibility is not a separate release for the newer consoles. The PC version is also offered via Steam for supported Macs.

Levels alternate between combat, switch puzzles and using different character abilities. Often only the right villain power opens a new path or leads to hidden collectibles. Outside missions, you can explore the DC locations and complete additional tasks.

Additional levels and characters come from Aquaman, Shazam!, Young Justice, Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Dark, among others. More packs add characters from DC films and TV series. These expansions add to the main game and are not required for its campaign.

For the Windows version, Steam lists at least an Intel Core i3-4130, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 Ti or Radeon R9 280X, and 16 GB of free storage. Recommended are, among others, an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200. macOS has separate requirements. The current Steam client requires Windows 10 or later.

The Justice League has disappeared. In its place, the Justice Syndicate from another universe wants to protect Earth. Joker, Harley Quinn and other villains distrust the newcomers and try to uncover their plans. The story shows the conflict from the perspective of well-known opponents of the DC heroes.

A custom-made character joins the story as part of the villain crew. Looks and abilities can be upgraded as you play. Unlike many other LEGO adventures, the focus is not only on a fixed selection of well-known comic characters.

The game world takes you to Gotham, Metropolis and Smallville, among others. Alongside the story, there are collectibles and extra tasks. Many paths and challenges become accessible through the abilities of other unlockable characters.

LEGO DC Super-Villains supports local co-op for two players and can also be played alone. Together, both players can use different villain abilities to solve puzzles and fight. A standalone online co-op mode is not included in the listed features.

The standard version includes the main game. The Deluxe Edition bundles it with the Season Pass. The pass combines additional character and level packs, some of which are also sold separately. When buying, it is therefore important to check which add-ons are already included in the chosen edition.

German text and voice acting are available for PC and PlayStation 4. The Nintendo Switch version also offers German. In local two-player mode, a second person can join missions and exploration directly.
