LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is an action-adventure based on the seventh Star Wars film. Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Han Solo and other characters experience the story in the humorous LEGO version. Alongside the well-known film scenes, there are additional story chapters set between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”

The mix of combat, building, light puzzles and exploration is aimed at solo players and fans who want to play together on the same screen.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released for PC and numerous consoles in June 2016. TT Games lists June 28, 2016 as the release date. On Steam and the European PlayStation Store, the date for their versions is June 27, 2016. The Mac version by Feral Interactive and the versions for iOS and Android also released in 2016.

The Deluxe Edition combines the base game with the Season Pass and is not a standalone sequel.

The game was released natively for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. For smartphones and tablets, there are standalone versions on iOS and Android.

The PC version covers Windows and macOS. Xbox Series can run the Xbox One version via backward compatibility, but there is no dedicated Xbox Series version. Playing the PS4 version on PS5 is also not a standalone PS5 release.

On the Wii U and 3DS eShops, sales of new digital games ended on Mar 27, 2023. Content you have already bought and physical copies are separate from this.

Multi-builds turn a pile of LEGO bricks into different objects. You decide which structure solves a puzzle or clears the way, and you can reuse the bricks for a different solution.

Blaster battles use cover, while space battles include fast chases and dogfights. Between action sections, character special abilities help open previously blocked areas.

Additional content expands the game with more adventures and playable characters. On Steam, the level packs include “The Phantom Limb,” “Jakku: Poe’s Quest for Survival” and “First Order Siege of Takodana,” among others. Character packs add characters from other Star Wars stories.

The Season Pass includes three additional levels and five character packs. Which extra content is available separately varies by platform.

On Windows, the game requires at least 4 GB of RAM and 14 GB of free storage, according to Steam. The PC version lists an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or AMD Phenom X4 9850 as minimum processors, and a GeForce GT 430 or Radeon HD 6850 as graphics cards.

For the recommended setup, Steam lists an Intel Core i5 with four cores at 2.6 GHz or a comparable AMD model, plus a GeForce GTX 480 or Radeon HD 5850. The current Steam client requires Windows 10 or newer.

The story follows Rey, Finn, Poe and their allies in their fight against the First Order. Locations and scenes from the film are retold with slapstick LEGO humor. Playable bonus episodes also show what happened before the events of the film.

The character roster includes BB-8, Chewbacca, C-3PO, Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma, among others. Different abilities mean that puzzles and obstacles can be solved in different ways depending on the character.

The PC and major console versions support local co-op play for two people. Split screen is offered on Steam. There is also Remote Play Together, which lets a second player join the local session over the internet.

The features of the mobile versions differ from the PC and console versions. Their controls are designed for touchscreens.

On smartphones, you can start the first chapter for free. Further chapters and additional characters are unlocked in the mobile version via in-app purchases. The controls are adapted for touchscreens.

The mobile release is therefore not equivalent to a full PC or console license.

The Steam version includes German text, subtitles and voice audio. German on-screen text and voices are also available on PS4. Voice packs differ by platform: the App Store lists only English for the iOS version.

TT Games, also known as Traveller's Tales, developed LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens for Warner Bros. Feral Interactive handled the Mac version. Within the LEGO Star Wars series, the game covers Episode VII, not the later collection “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga”.
