FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS

FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS is a free-to-play role-playing game by Square Enix and Applibot. The game retells well-known events from Final Fantasy VII and its compilation and adds its own stories, including material around the young Sephiroth.

The presentation combines stylized character models for exploration and story sections with more modern rendered battles. From the start, Ever Crisis was designed as a continuously expanded online game with episodic story chapters, events and collectible equipment.

The iOS and Android versions were released on Sep 7, 2023. The PC version followed on Dec 6, 2023 via Steam.

Square Enix is ending the online service on Oct 7, 2026 at 8:00 AM German time (Oct 6, 11:00 PM PDT). After that, the game can no longer be played. The company has not announced an offline version; account data is to be deleted after the procedures linked to the service end are completed.

FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS was released natively for iOS, Android and PC. The PC version is sold via Steam. All versions are tied to the online service and affected by the service end announced for October 2026.

Ever Crisis combines story chapters with party-based RPG battles. Players assemble teams from well-known characters of the FINAL FANTASY VII universe and develop them through weapons, equipment and abilities. Besides single-player content, the game also offered co-op battles and time-limited events.

The Steam version requires Windows 10 or 11 in 64-bit. As the minimum, Square Enix lists 8 GB RAM, an AMD Radeon Vega 8, Intel UHD Graphics 630 or GeForce GTX 750, and 30 GB of storage. Recommended are, among others, a Radeon RX 460, Intel Arc A380 or GeForce GTX 950.

The game was designed as another way to experience stories from the entire FINAL FANTASY VII universe. Alongside well-known events from the main game and Crisis Core, new episodes emerged around Glenn, Matt, Lucia and the young Sephiroth. Producer Shoichi Ichikawa later described Ever Crisis as “Another Possibility for a Remake”.

The plot of Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- was also incorporated into Ever Crisis before the service ended, so key compilation content that was previously not available internationally became part of the game.

When the servers shut down, the entire game becomes unavailable, including the episodic story content, events and online systems. Square Enix has not announced a standalone offline version.

Sales of paid Red Crystals were already stopped in July 2026. For the global version, Square Enix explicitly mentions refunds of unused paid currency only for Taiwan; for other regions, no comparable refund has been announced on the English service page.
