FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the second part of the three-part reimagining of FINAL FANTASY VII. Cloud Strife and his companions leave Midgar and follow Sephiroth's trail through vast regions. The action RPG combines an ongoing story with exploration, team battles and optional activities.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH was released for PS5 on Feb 29, 2024, for PC on Jan 23, 2025, and for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on Jun 3, 2026. The PC version is available via Steam, Epic Games Store and the Xbox PC Store.

Native versions are available for PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox Play Anywhere links the Xbox and Microsoft Store versions on Windows. There is no native version of REBIRTH for PS4 and Xbox One.

In battle, you control one character directly and can switch to other party members. Normal attacks fill the ATB gauge, which is needed for skills, spells and items. The interplay of dodging, blocking, enemy weaknesses and role distribution remains important even in the faster action sequences.

No post-release story expansions have been announced for FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. The Digital Deluxe Edition and the separately sold Deluxe upgrade include digital extras such as an artbook and a mini soundtrack, as well as certain in-game bonuses. The third part of the reinterpretation is a standalone game.

On Windows, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH requires at least 16 GB of RAM and 155 GB of free SSD storage. Square Enix lists the Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i3-8100 as minimum processors. Graphics card support starts with the GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600, among others. Requirements rise significantly for higher image quality.

Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith and Red XIII follow Sephiroth from Midgar into the open world. Along the way, more companions such as Yuffie and Cait Sith join the party. The journey leads through different regions and advances the central conflicts surrounding Shinra, the Cetra and the future of the planet.

The playable characters each have their own combat styles. Cloud fights with the Buster Sword, Barret relies on ranged attacks, Tifa on fast melee combos and Aerith on magic. Different abilities give the party composition real weight in gameplay.

The combat system adds shared actions to the ATB mechanic. With Synchro skills, two party members can link their attacks. Together with individual character skills, this creates decisions about tempo, resources and how the party works together.

The journey leads through large, varied regions rather than the narrow city districts of Midgar. Besides the main story, encounters, side quests and further exploration targets await. Chocobos make getting around the vast areas easier.

The card game Blood of the Queen is a standalone side activity with duels and collectible cards. Further mini-games and challenges interrupt the main quest. These activities add variety without replacing the story's focus.

The optional Game Boost feature can make battles much easier. It includes unlimited HP and MP, filled Limit and ATB gauges, and attacks dealing 9,999 damage. The feature is also available on PS5 and PC and is aimed at players who want to focus more on the story.

The PC version offers adjusted lighting, more detailed textures, NVIDIA DLSS and, with suitable hardware, up to 120 frames per second. Besides keyboard and mouse, a connected DualSense controller is supported. Inputs can be adjusted separately for exploration, battles and mini-games.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH offers German on-screen text and German voice acting, among others. Other voiced versions are Japanese, English and French. Available subtitle languages vary by platform and store.

The Standard Edition includes the main game. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds digital extras and additional items, while double packs combine REBIRTH with FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE. The Deluxe upgrade is not a standalone game.

A free demo with the Nibelheim chapter and the Grasslands region is available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox. Progress can be transferred to the full game. The two sections give an impression of both the story and the exploration and battles.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is a single-player RPG. The party consists of characters controlled by the game and by the player. A cooperative multiplayer mode is not part of the base game.
