Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 is a third-person action and survival horror game by Capcom. The story is spread across four interconnected campaigns featuring Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper, Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans, Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin, and Ada Wong.

The stories take players through North America, the fictional Eastern European country Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang. The focus is on a global outbreak of the C-Virus.

Resident Evil 6 was released in Europe and North America on Oct 2, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version followed on Mar 22, 2013.

In 2016, Capcom released HD versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The native Nintendo Switch version came out on Oct 29, 2019.

Native versions are available for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. On Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox One version is compatible; on PS5, the PS4 version is playable via backward compatibility. These paths are not separate native releases.

The four campaigns differ in characters, locations and focus, but are narratively interlinked. Leon and Helena, Chris and Piers, and Jake and Sherry are designed for co-op; Ada Wong adds another perspective.

In certain crossover situations, the campaigns intersect. Then up to four players can experience the same scene together online. The combat system allows shooting on the move, dodge rolls, sliding, cover and a stronger focus on melee combat than earlier series entries.

The permanent extra modes include Survivors, Onslaught, Predator and Siege. In addition, there are extra stages for the extra content modes, as well as The Mercenaries and Agent Hunt.

The later PS4, Xbox One and Switch versions bundle the previously released extra content. On PC, the four multiplayer modes are still sold as separate DLC.

Steam lists at least an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 at 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, a GeForce 8800 GTS or better graphics card, DirectX 9.0c and 16 GB of free storage. Recommended specs include a Core 2 Quad at 2.7 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 at 3 GHz, 4 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 560 or better.

The campaigns support local or online co-op. In selected crossover scenes, up to four players can team up. There are also competitive multiplayer modes and the Agent Hunt mode, in which one player can invade another player's ongoing match as a creature.

Xbox and PlayStation offer local multiplayer or co-op, as well as online play with up to six players, for the HD remasters.

The Switch version was released on Oct 29, 2019. It includes the previously released content and adds gyro or motion controls for aiming and melee attacks.

The Switch version is a native port and is therefore listed separately from simple backward compatibility.
