Release
The reinterpretation was released on March 24, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Versions for supported iPhones, iPads and Macs followed on December 20, 2023. A native Nintendo Switch 2 version has been available since October 16, 2026 as the Gold Edition.

Gameplay
The reinterpretation keeps the third-person perspective of the original and modernizes movement, targeting, interactions and resource management. Exploration, inventory planning, upgrades and the trader remain central parts of the gameplay.
Capcom has restaged numerous situations and areas without fully abandoning the basic structure of the journey. As a result, the 2023 version combines familiar locations with new sequences and modern controls.

DLCs and expansions
Separate Ways is an additional story campaign with Ada Wong that adds events from the main story from her perspective. The Mercenaries was added as an additional mode in 2023.
The Gold Edition bundles the base game with Separate Ways and the Extra DLC pack. On Nintendo Switch 2, the game is offered directly as the Gold Edition.

VR mode on PlayStation VR2
A free PS VR2 mode for the PS5 version was released on Dec 8, 2023. It adapts the main campaign to a VR perspective and adjusts controls and interactions to the Sense controllers. The PS5 version of the base game is required to play.

Apple version and Nintendo Switch 2
The Apple version was released on Dec 20, 2023 for compatible iPhones, iPads and Macs with Apple silicon. Capcom supports Universal Purchase and cross-device progress within the Apple ecosystem.
The native Switch 2 version has been available since Oct 16, 2026 as the Gold Edition and includes additional content alongside the base game.
