What is Resident Evil Revelations?

Resident Evil Revelations is a survival horror game by Capcom, set between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The focus is on Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield along with their BSAA partners Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat. Much of the campaign takes place on the seemingly abandoned cruise ship Queen Zenobia and revolves around the T-Abyss virus.

The original version came out in 2012 for Nintendo 3DS. Later HD versions brought the game to PC and other consoles without changing the original game's standalone identity.

Resident Evil Revelations launched in Europe on Jan 27, 2012 on Nintendo 3DS. The HD version followed in 2013 on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. In 2017, revised versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as a native Switch version were released.

The later versions added, among other things, higher-resolution graphics, additional content and an expanded Raid Mode. They are re-releases of the same game, not standalone sequels.

Gameplay

The campaign combines cautious exploration, limited ammo and third-person combat. The Genesis Scanner is used to examine the environment and spot hidden items or hazards. Alongside the narrow corridors of the Queen Zenobia, the story also takes you to other locations such as Terragrigia and snowy areas.

The HD version adds, among other things, the harder Infernal mode, changed enemy and item placements, and additional enemies and equipment.
