Rockfort Island as a location

Rockfort Island is the central setting of the remake. The remote island is no longer under control after an outbreak of dangerous creatures. Buildings, outdoor areas and traces of the catastrophe shape the exploration.

The new version features more detailed environments that restage the location compared with the 2000 game.

What changes from the original

Capcom is reworking the story with new graphics and modernized game systems. The studio explicitly describes the remake as a new interpretation of Code: Veronica, not as a simple technical re-release.

The RE Engine allows a different look for characters and environments. The familiar locations and the basic story remain the foundation.

The original from 2000

Resident Evil Code: Veronica was originally released in 2000 for Sega Dreamcast. The story continued the plot around the Redfield siblings and combined exploration, combat, limited resources and changes of location.

The remake retells this part of the series. It is neither a sequel to Resident Evil 4 nor a port of the unchanged Dreamcast game.
